Craig McElhinney EP “Loser Orientation” out now!
30 September, 2009

Craig McElhinney’s debut album You and Me Are Young and Brutal was released in just April this year. The album acutely illustrates McElhinney’s distinctive doom guitar technique and first forays into solo improvisation. Following its release, McElhinney has performed relentlessly around Perth, reinterpreting the sound of You and Me Are Young and Brutal whilst being propelled by the energy of being a solo performer. It is no surprise that just three months later, McElhinney has handed us new recordings.
Recorded and mixed in a single weekend in Myalup, Western Australia by M. Rosner, Loser Orientation finds McElhinney in the midst of a phase of hyperproductivity. The record contains both some of the most exploratory and poppy moments yet from the young guitarist, documenting his Bruce Lee inspired formless form approach. McElhinney’s journey began by bringing us the sound of taking the mountains to the sea. Loser Orientation is the calm before the surfer’s realisation of an imminent tidal wave.
